The site is
powered by a SQL 2000 database, with updates occurring on a
periodic basis.
In the
summer of 2000, a soon-to-be senior citizen, who was an
off-spring of a former traveling salesman, got the idea
about providing jocular tidbits for his friends. These
friends were located in several different parts of the
country and did not reside near to the author of the site.
In fact, the site's author had moved around the country many
times over forty years, re-locating at least 13 times. And
this included to one foreign country.
The son of
the site's author was a 2000 graduate of Xavier University
and had began his career in the Internet world by starting a
web-hosting business. Since the site's author had been in
the IT industry for over thirty years, it was only natural
to utilize the internet for what it was originally intended;
a gathering of information and dissemination to the world.
In September, 2000, the site went live for the first time.
Over the next three years, it evolved into a multi-function
storage and messaging medium. During 2003, it was decided
that the multitude of material would be better presented if
it was data-driven. Thus, a multi-month project was begun to
place the html pages into a format that could be accessed
and displayed both randomly and by user selection.
